Accessing past life information can be a crucial part of the healing process. We do not begin this lifetime with a completely clean slate. The energy residue that we carry into our current lifetime is called karma, a sanskrit word that means action of cause and effect. All of our previous good deeds and misdeeds impact the circumstances of our current lifetime. It would be impossible for anyone* to have complete knowledge of all of the karma that is affecting us at any given time. However, there are specific ways that a skillful Reiki healer can discern past life experiences that are currently impacting the client. A highly trained Reiki healer can discern enough details of previous incarnations or previous lifetimes to provide insight into the issues of the present moment. Handled skillfully, karmic information or past life regression can be the key to healing.

 

A Reiki healing does not always include details about past lives. This information is useful when it informs the healing process. Much like a psychic reading, a past life regression without the support of healing may not be useful or a positive experience. I have had clients who were greatly disturbed by going through past life regression without the scope and skill of an energy healer using the information for their healing.

 

In a tutorial with Barbara Brennan at her healing school many years ago, she asked our entire class, some 200 people, if any of us had received a past life regression. Virtually everyone in the auditorium raised their hand. She then asked if the information had been useful. No one raised their hand! She nodded knowingly and continued. “How many people are able to access past lives for themselves?” Only a handful of us raised our hands. When she asked if the information had been helpful we all responded decisively, yes. A lively discussion ensued. Those who had received a past life reading without the benefit of healing said that the information felt disconnected and out of context. It was so unrelatable that they felt like the person giving the reading was making it up. Those of us who had accessed our own information had done so in the context of a deep healing journey. The information was visceral and ultimately a catalyst for profound healing. That real, embodied quality of accessing past life information can be done in the context of a Reiki healing session by a skillful Reiki Healer.
